Last IT Class :(

Hey fellow citizens

I have some sad news ... Right now is our last IT class which means its probably my last time to blog when being in TY :(

I swear I will try and log on during the summer and post about what i have done and what i shall be doing :)

But if i don't i hope everyone has a great summer :D

Its nearly over!

Heyy :(

I have some really sad news .... Transition Year is almost over!
I will miss Banba so much!

I am so glad I done Ty because without it I wouldn't have been able to do all the things we like going to Carling ford and taking part in rock climbing, going to Glendalough and seeing the gorgeous waterfalls and lake, doing swim a mile and swimming a full 64 lengths by my self!

To all Third Years coming into TY, make the most of it! No matter what the date is for a project get it started ASAP! You don't know how much stress you actually get into when you realize that a big project is due in two days and the most you have done is writing the title!
So no matter what get started on them straight away and finish them in time!

If I didn't do TY I wouldn't have gotten closer to girls and made way more friends than i did have before.
Instead of always being with the same people i can move around and talk to others :D

Scifest :)

Hey :)

Yesterday we all went to Tallaght IT to compete in the scifest competition.
It was fun and we made some new friends in different schools.
I was nervous when the judges were coming around to ask about the project but I'm proud of myself that I didn't just go blank and talk gibberish! :L
The girl who won was at the stall behind mine and she was really nice. You could see she put so much work into her project,'Biodegradable or non-biodegradable'. She had done it all by herself and her poster looked amazing.
I think there was 4 groups in our school that won prizes and we were all so happy for them. :D
Well Done!!!
I went to the talk about computer games and it was really interesting.
The bad part of the day was the bus turning up late going to and from Tallaght. Even though it didn't really matter we were up so early to have it come late and that made us mad! :L
It kind off made it more fun as well :L

Glendalough

Hey :)
Yesterday class Banba(well most of us) went to Glendalough for our religion retreat.
We met up with Father Michael and he showed us the beautiful waterfalls, lake and scenery around Glendalough. We walked in the footsteps of Saint Kevin and it was lovely.
Even though it was raining I think it made it even better.
First we watched a little movie about the area around Glendalough and then we looked around the exhibition and saw what a house back then would look like and the stones with religious carvings in them.
I really had a great time and i think the others did as well :)

Cockroaches vs Tutsi

Today in Religion class we finished watching the movie Hotel Rwanda. It has to be one of the saddest movies i have seen. To think that just 2 years before i was born over a million people died because they belonged to a different tribe.
Hutus- People in power
Tutsis- Called Cockroaches
It was about a man named Paul and his family trying to get through this war between two tribes who are from the same country. Paul is the manager of a hotel that becomes like a refugee camp from a 5 star hotel. Paul's wife, Tatiana, is Tutsi and he is Hutu so he helps everyone but gets nothing back in return.
The movie is so sad and a bit frightening but it truly gets the message across of what was happening in Rwanda and shows you how White people responded to this genocide. A line in the movie was "When people see this footage, they will say its horrible but then eat there dinners" I think  this is very true and is still happening today, When we see the tragedies that are happening in Syria we are shocked but then after we continue to live our lives as if nothing is happening. We do not do anything.
I feel ashamed to think that we did not do anything to help those Innocent people.
I defiantly preferred Hotel Rwanda to Sometimes In April because i think it got to me more and the situations that people were in made me realise just how bad things were, than just the story of one man in Sometimes In April.

My Birthday and Swim A Mile :)

Hey People :)

Today is my birthday :) I am 16 years old :D

Tomorrow all Ty's are going to the Aquatic Centre to take part in Swim a Mile With A Smile and it should be really fun :)
I am in a team with my friends Monique, Lori and Hannah :)
I can't wait :D

Hey People :)

Yesterday was the music night and we finally performed shake it out by Florence and the machine :)
Compared to the rehearsals we had we were actually really good and i was SO happy it was over and went well :D

That's really all the news except EASTER HOLIDAYS ARE COMING UP !!!
Friday(tomorrow) is our last day and then we are off for 2 weeks :O
I cannot wait but i really hope the sun stays out

Sports Day with 1st Years

Hey :)

Yesterday Banba were organising and holding a sports day for the 1st years and it went really well :)
We were only told on Friday we would be holding it so we were really happy it went smoothly.
All the 1st years took part in some athletic sport like long jump, 600 metre, sprint, high jump and loads more.
Class pearl came first with a whopping 61(i think) points. WOO GO PEARL :D

Theres a music night tonight in the school and Banba and Eriu are singing Shake It Out by Florence and the Machine so that should be fun :)

Well thats all really, I'll talk tomorrow about how the music night went :)

Something to say :)

Hey

Last weekend was St. Patricks weekend and i celebrated it with my best friends and family :)
I went into Dublin with some Friends where i made new friends :) Loads of them were foreigners coming to Ireland to celebrate the St. Patrick Parade and they were all so nice :D
On Sunday it was Mothers Day and my family and I went to the Abbey Lodge and had dinner
I had OREO CHEESCAKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was yummy :)

On April 20th (Day after my birthday :D ) we are going to the national aquatic centre in Blanchardstown and we are taking part of Ian Daly, SWIM A MILE WITH A SMILE !!
I cannot WAIT !! I really love swimming and i think i might try and go for the 64 lenghts, to get the mile but i am going to go in a group just so i don't have to really push myself   :)

Now are you ready to do a 6k course? WHAT!!!

Hey :)

Yesterday all Ty's went to Meath to do a 6km army course even though we were told we were doing a 3km!!
I was on the photography team so therefore did not do the course and i was so thankful for that!
The people who did do it looked like they would die from hypothermia at the end of it!
I was really proud of the people who did do it though :)

I don't think we have anything planned for a little while but thats okay because we have projects to do :/

Bang on my drum ! WAIT ! Its a JIMBAY !!!

Hey :)

On Monday all of class Banba did not have normal classes instead we had a percussion workshop :)

We played the Jimbay drum which is NOT a BONGO !
It was real fun at the beginning but towards the end it got kind of boring :(
I think it should have ended at like big lunch :)

Teacher ! Teacher !

Hey People :)

I haven't been on this in a while, Sorry :(
Last week all Ty's were on work experience and i was in my primary school Lindsay Road :)
It is a small school with only around 80 kids and there are 3 classrooms and a resource room :)

I had such a good time ! From 25 to 9 - 9 I was in 1st, 2nd, 3rd class, from 9- 9:30 i was in resource room, from 9:30-10:15 i was in 4th, 5th and 6th class. Then lunch was at 10:15-10:30. From 10:30 - 11:30 i was in junior and senior infants, then it was lunch again, 12-1 i was in junior and senior infants again. My last class was 1st, 2nd and 3rd class which was from 1-2 and then my day was over :D

I listened to the kids read(which i loved for some reason), helped them with their maths(i am not good under pressure but survived), corrected homework(i wish i had that homework again :( ), played with them at pe(I made a friend called Finn there :) i miss him :( ) and loads more :)

I already miss them all and i really want to become a primary school teacher now :D

The town of St.Brigid

Heyyy :)

On Tuesday all the TYs went to Kildare town to go on a pilgrimage of St.Brigid and her two holy wells.

Even though it was cold and tiring we all managed to pull through and visit the two places that St. Brigid was known for. We also went to the Cathedral and we seen the round tower but unfortunately we could not go in because it would have been dangerous and too squishy.

At times we just wanted to give up but with the help of the teachers and the fact Starbucks was a little bit away we all ended up having a great day :)

I think i will mostly remember the 2nd well we went to. The statue of Brigid and the flame was gorgeous and the round well with the trees around was beautiful.

I ended up falling asleep on My friends lap on the way home but the day was worth it :D

Sad News :(

I just found out something that really upset me :'(
The film Anastasia(my all time favourite movie) is NOT a disney movie!
I Repeat it is NOT A DISNEY MOVIE !!
I always taught it was but its not :'(
I'm very sad about this because i love disney and i loved it even more because i taught it made my favourite movie :(

Happy St Bridgets Day :)

Hey :)

It is the first of February which means its Saint Bridget's day today  :O :)
In banba we designed our prayer room for the occasion and my dad actually made a well for it :O
Its really nice and everyone is really happy with the wall hanging, the tower and the tree with the Bhrat Bride's on it :)

Today we are meant to have our mini companies presentation ready and i think my group do haha

Hey People :)

Yesterday all the Ty's were in Mulingar Theatre performing plays that we all made up our selves :)
We were in the Briary Gap Competition and the play that i was in was called 'What are you looking at?'
I think we did really well and everyone who participated should be really pleased with themselves.
Our play focused on the issue of bullying and i think we portrayed it well.

The Show Must Go On !

Hey :)

Next Tuesday the whole of TY in St. Wolstans are taking a trip to Malina to Mulingar Theatre to see and act plays that we all made up ourselves !
The group that i am in are doing a play about bullying but with a twist ;)
Instead of it being highlighted on the victim, we highlighted it on the bully and lets just say the ending is quite the dramatic ! :o

Nothing else is really happening except we get off early today :)
Guess how much earlier? Go on.

Anyway back to school ... The Young Scientists of our country are in the RDS right now as i type!
There are loads of girls in our school that got through and have a good chance in winning :D
All the other TYs(the ones that didnt get through :( ) are going on Friday with the 2nd years :)
Should be lots of fun :)
